Horse Barn Structural Design - Queensville
This project involved a focused structural design review for a proposed horse barn in Queensville, Ontario.

Parsways reviewed the specified engineered wood headers, beams, and sonotube pier foundations required to address permit-related structural comments.
Location: Queensville, Ontario
Completion: June 2026
Sector: Agricultural

1. The Challenge
The proposed horse barn required structural clarification for selected engineered elements within the permit drawing set.

Permit Review Requirements
The local authority requested additional structural confirmation for specific load-bearing components.

Defined Structural Scope
The review was limited to the specified wood headers, beams, LVL members, and sonotube pier foundations.

Coordination With Excluded Items
Other framing components and pre-engineered roof trusses remained outside the structural review and by others.
2. The Engineering Solution
Parsways completed a focused structural design review for the engineered components included in the defined scope.

a. Header and Beam Review
The wood headers, beams, and LVL members were reviewed against the proposed barn layout and intended load path.

b. Pier Foundation Review
The sonotube pier foundations were reviewed with reinforcement requirements and subgrade bearing assumptions noted.

c. Code-Based Coordination
The review was completed with reference to the current OBC and applicable CSA standards for wood and concrete design.
3. The Outcome
The project resulted in a stamped structural design for the specified engineered components. The review helped address the permit-related structural comments, clarified the limits of the engineering scope, and provided clear direction for the load-bearing wood members and pier foundations while keeping non-reviewed items identified as by others.
